Birmingham City Council Develop Communication Campaign to Support Disadvantaged Communities
The Birmingham City Council’s Public Health Division “developed a communication and engagement campaign to further support BAME [Black, Asian, and minority ethnic], disabled and LGBT communities across the city during the coronavirus pandemic,” with the goal to “[f]urther understand specific issues around COVID-19 faced by particular BAME, disabled and LGBT communities” and to “[u]se effective and appropriate culturally sensitive methods, which do not rely on face to face engagement, to get these messages out into these communities.” Council members have “partnered with organisations,” including so that the “[d]eaf and hard of hearing community will be supported by Birmingham Institute for Deaf People” and “[b]lind and sight loss community and people with learning disabilities will be supported by Birmingham Disability Resource.”
