Notice Issued By Tra-Oman On The Measures Taken By The Sultanate Of Oman To Guarantee The Provision Of Telecommunication Services, Limit The Spread Of The Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic And Mitigate Its Effects
A series of “measures were taken to ensure the continuity of the telecom services and avoid network congestion due to increased demand.” Among others, these include: “provide free distance learning facility in cooperation with the Ministry of Education to all educational institutions with websites ending with (edu.om) in order to spare parents and students from any extra financial burdens,” “allow the use of certain VoIP applications such as Skype for Business, Google Meet, Zoom and WebEX,” and “[g]uide Telecom companies to find mechanisms and means to ensure the continuity of service and avoid termination of service to any services or small businesses in case of inability to pay due to COVID-19 disruption and communicate alternatives and available payment mechanisms.”
