Domestic Violence: Detailed Information
The “Domestic Violence: Detailed Information” section of the United Kingdom’s government website contains a number of different documents on domestic abuse. These include the following: “Domestic abuse: how to get help” (updated in Nov. 2021) with links to “[t]ranslated guidance,” questions to “[r]ecognize domestic abuse,” contact information for various helplines, and instructions to “ask for ‘ANI’ in a participating pharmacy” for those “experience domestic abuse [who] need immediate help;” “COVID-19 funding for domestic abuse and sexual violence support services” (May 2020), which contains information about the Ministry of Justice funds to provide “support to charities supporting vulnerable people including victims of sexual violence and domestic abuse;” “COVID-19: Home Office extraordinary funding for domestic abuse support services” (Aug. 2020) regarding the Home Office’s fund “for non-local charities which deal with domestic abuse and which are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and for which other funding streams for domestic abuse were not specifically designed;” “Domestic abuse safe accommodation: COVID-19 emergency support fund (Sept. 2020) with information on funding provided to “domestic abuse safe accommodation charities;” and a “Letter to Commissioners for Domestic Abuse and Victims about coronavirus” from the Home Secretary (Jan. 2021) outlining the ways in which the government has addressed and prioritized the needs of “those experiencing domestic abuse” particularly as they “may feel especially isolated and vulnerable during this period.” The letter also notes that the government has “committed to developing a Victims’ Funding Strategy and a new delivery model, that will place the sector on a more sustainable footing in the longer term.”
