The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications took steps to ensure its efforts continued during the pandemic; for example, delivery of a “Local Authority Climate Action Training Programme . . . migrate[d] online.” Additionally, “the Department supported a number of wide-ranging environmental activities and public awareness initiatives throughout 2020, including . . . An Taisce to deliver the National Climate Change Action and Awareness Programme (NCCAAP) and the Green Schools Programme” which, given pandemic restrictions “were delivered virtually by An Taisce’s Education & Awareness unit to over 90% of schools.” Further, “the Green Government programme continued in 2020 and saw increased support.”
