65,000 Tablets Being Procured for Schools, Teachers
According to the “Chief Executive Officer of e-Learning Jamaica,” Cabinet “approved the procurement of 40,000 tablet computers for students and 25,000 devices for teachers, under the Tablets in Schools Project” with plans for a “new phase of the project” for the 2020/2021 fiscal year. This effort, which also involves a collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, also addresses maintenance support for devices. This project “is part of the Government’s effort to enhance teaching and learning skills through global inclusion, with the goal of increasing digital literacy.”
